What does CapoChart do?

CapoChart changes the chord symbols in your PDF to a new key or capo position, while preserving the lyrics, notation, and page layout. Review the result, correct any missed chords, and download a print-ready PDF. The capo calculator also works on its own.

Can I transpose a PDF or photo of a chord chart?

Yes. PDFs with selectable text usually give the best results. Clear scans and photos are also supported; blurry, handwritten, or unusual charts may need corrections. You can review and edit detected chords before downloading.

How do I find the best capo position for a song?

Enter the song's key or paste its chords into the capo calculator. It tries every capo position, scores each by how many chords become easy open shapes instead of barre chords, and recommends the most comfortable one — which sounds identical to the original.

Is CapoChart free?

Yes. CapoChart is free to use, with no sign-up required. It works in your browser on phone, tablet and desktop.

What changes when I choose a key or capo?

Changing the song key changes its pitch. Choosing a capo lets you use different chord shapes while keeping your chosen sounding key. CapoChart changes the printed chord symbols only: melody notes and staff key signatures stay as originally printed.
